Butterfly and flower cards

I'm a little late with this post as I meant to do it last night, but time just ran away with me and I never got around to it, then this morning I have been very busy helping hubby dismantle my craft room - awwww! ready for a re-vamp - hooray! The room used to be my grandsons bedroom so at the moment I have one red wall with spaceships and astronauts all over it, but by the end of the week the red will be gone and the wall will be a lovely bright blue, although you won't see much of it as it will be covered with cupboards, a worktop and shelving. I'm also having the carpet taken up and a new floor laid so I will be able to whizz backwards and forwards in my chair, from my work desk to the worktop which will hold my die-cutting machines and guillotine.
Sooo looking forward to it all being finished, as I am temporarily working on a table in the living room, and it is not the same as having everything to hand.

Today I have a couple of birthday cards to show you, both made with papers from the First Love Ultimate kit from Paper Creator.

Papers - First Love Ultimate Kit - Paper Creator
Memory box - Darla and Vivienne Butterfly dies, Chesapeake scrollwork
Ribbon, pearls and gems - Meiflower
Silver Angel hair paper.

The top and bottom borders are the waste from the scalloped punch and the bow is a triple loop bow.
Papers - as above
X-cut palm punch large heart and circle
Couture Creations Tied together embossing folder
Ribbon and pearls - Meiflower

I am entering my cards into the following challenges
Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - 47 - Anything Goes

Art Deco Wedding

You know when a "great" card design idea pops into your head out of the blue and you can't wait to put it together and then when you do it's either not that great at all and ends up in the bin,( no! haven't had that happen? I have quite a few times LOL!) or a complete triumph, well today's card is one of those, (obviously a triumph or I wouldn't be sharing it hehe!)

I had the idea to make a bow fronted card using one of my dies to make panels at each side so that you could see into the card, I also have a thing about cards fitting into envelopes so decided to add the concertina folds at each end of the front so that you can press it flat for posting, but it pops open once out of the envelope.

Art Deco Wedding CD rom - Debbi Moore Designs
Memory Box - Lucienne Tile
Lifestyle Nesting Ovals
Pearls - Meiflower

I have to say that it looks so much better in real life, the photo's really don't do it justice, and it is one of my all time favourites. My daughter has already claimed it for her friends wedding later in the year.

I am entering my card into the following challenges -

Fan-Tastic Tuesday - Must Be Square #25 Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays  - #161 Anything Goes
Through The Craft Room Door - Always Anything Goes

Baby Carriage!

In my quest to try and use as many of my dies as possible this year , today I have a baby card made almost entirely from dies (5) - I used a couple of punches, organza and satin ribbon and some stick on pearls too.

White Linen card - Papermill Direct
Sizzix nesting hearts die
CREAlies CLCS11 - Leaves
Memory Box - Piestra Tile
Marianne Creatables - LR0218 Baby Carriage
Spellbinders - Decorative labels eight
X-cut palm punch - pointed butterfly - medium and small
X cut Daisy punch - medium and large
Liquid chalks ink pad - Ice Blue
Blue satin ribbon, White organza ribbon and various sized stick on pearls - Meiflower

I used satin ribbon for the hood and blanket of the baby carriage by applying a narrow line of Collall tacky glue around the edges and sticking the ribbon down, once dry I trimmed around the edge. I also did the same underneath the die cut border - for both the pram and border I used a piece of 25mm ribbon and 10mm ribbon. This could easily be done with coloured paper, but I liked the idea of fabric.

Welcome Baby

I seem to be going through a phase of using Kraft card for my card bases at the moment, I hadn't even realised I was doing it until my daughter was looking at today's card and said to me - you seem very fond of that brown stuff (non-crafter LOL!), you're using it a lot lately.

So here's the card she was looking at, it's a baby boy card using Jolly the Jiraffe from Teddy Bo and some of that brown stuff hehe!

Love is in the air!

This post should have been done on Saturday but for the last couple of days I have had the stinking cold that is going around at the moment, today is the first day that I haven't been aching all over, it's also the first day that I have lost my voice too - made Eric's day LOL! Both Eric and Meg had it first, and then, as usual, once I've looked after them and got them better I come down with it -Eric is back in work, Meg still needs looking after and I've got my youngest grandson Charlie nearly every day this week, so no rest for me.
I have to admit that I've also been distracted by the darts on the telly - the first couple of weeks of the year when the BDO World Darts Championship is shown from the Lakeside Country Club is one of the things I most look forward to after the Christmas break, and have really enjoyed it once again this year.

Anyway back to the cards and with Christmas out of the way, the next big occasion, for us card makers is Valentine's day, and with that in mind I'm giving you a sneak peek at two of  the new Sassy Cheryl illustrations - First love and Smitten - which will be available shortly at Paper Creator.

Sassy Cheryl illustrations First Love and Smitten - Paper Creator
Papers - Lovebirds digital scrapbook kit - Just so Scrappy
Sizzix Hearts dies
X cut heart punch
Sentiment - Computer Generated
Ribbons and gems - Meiflower

If you like to match your papers to the colours in your image, you should check out the First Love ultimate kit from Paper Creator when it becomes available, as well as the image it  also contains papers, a build a topper set, a ready to print card, sentiments and decoupage.
For this card I used the image and a couple of the papers. The card base was made by printing both sides of  A4 Linen card from Papermill Direct with one of the plain papers from the kit, before cutting to size and folding to make a square card.
The card is a sample for Meiflower which is why it is bedecked in pearls and gems, plus I love a bit of bling on a card and couldn't resist encrusting the die cut heart frame with all things sparkly!

Boy with Gifts

This will be my last "proper" post before Christmas, although I have added a few scheduled posts as I have so many Christmas cards made that I haven't yet blogged, and I wanted to showcase at least a few of them.

There is a lot going on here at the moment, my Father in law is very ill now, and the Macmillan nurses who are looking after him have told us they think that he has at most a couple of weeks left, but more probably only a couple of days, so you can imagine how awful each and every day is for the family.
They are all spending as much time as possible with their dad, my hubby is at work during the day (luckily he works only 10 minutes away from home so can get to his dad's quickly if needed) so is going around each evening and his two sisters are there for most of the day.
My daughter Meg, who idolises her grandad, is heartbroken that she can't visit him to say goodbye, but with George being upstairs in bed and Meg being totally reliant on a wheelchair and because of her condition not even able to be carried up the stairs, it's not an option. She can't even speak to him on the telephone as he can barely talk and doesn't know who you are even when he does.
It's probably very selfish of me, but I am glad that she can't see him this way as I don't want her last memories of her grandad to be of the way he is now, - it was only a couple of weeks ago that she was at their house having her Sunday dinner with Grandma and Grandad (she normally goes every other Sunday), Grandad was up sitting in his chair and still quite well at this point and I would prefer her to remember him like that.

OK enough of the doom and gloom, that's not what you came here for, today I have a couple of cards to show you made with exactly the same image, papers and embellishments, but just laid out differently.

I design my cards in Photoshop, bringing in the papers, cropping them to size and then laying them out exactly as I want them to be on the finished card, once happy with the design I arrange the papers and image on an A4 sheet of paper (depending on the design sometimes I need a couple of sheets), print, cut and put together, adding any embellishments as I go along.
For this particular card everything fitted on one A4 sheet, but when I was printing out the design there was a problem with the printer and I ended up with a smudge of ink where there shouldn't have been any, so I re-printed the sheet, which came out perfectly the second time.
It seemed a shame to waste a sheet of printing so I decided I would find a way of getting around the smudge and make two cards.

The first version of the card is made from the perfect print, and is laid out exactly as originally planned.

Image - Boy with presents digi - Lee Holland Etsy Store - Coloured in Photoshop
Papers - Jolly Days Digital Scrap kit - Just So Scrappy
Circle Sentiment - made by me
Marianne Craftables die - CR1212 Ticket and Tags
Tonic geared punch - Diamond Scalloped border
Ribbon, metallic cord, stick on pearls and green jingle bells - Meiflower

This second card was made with the reject print - the ink smudge was close to the image so I decided to cut around the image leaving a narrow border - that way I could still use the image but get rid of the smudge. I cut out the papers and played around with them until I was happy with the layout and then made up the card, substituting Kraft card for the red I'd used previously.

All details same as above.

There will be a few more scheduled posts up until Christmas, but depending on how things go I am not sure when I will be back after that, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
and to anyone out there who is going through the same sort of thing as we are here, I would like to leave you with these words from one of my all time favourite Eagle's songs.

I wish you peace when the cold winds blow
Warmed by the fire's glow
I wish you comfort in the lonely time
And arms to hold you when you ache inside

I wish you hope when things are bad
Kind words when times are sad
I wish you shelter from the raging wind
Cooling waters at the fever's end

I wish you peace when times are hard
The light to guide you through the dark
And when storms are high and your dreams are low
I wish you the strength to let love grow,
I wish you the strength to let love flow,

I wish you peace when times are hard
A light to guide you through the dark
And when storms are high and your dreams are low
I wish you the strength to let love grow.

Hugs,
Colette xx

Teddy Bo Tuesday

Last week I took the very sad decision to step down from both the My Besties and Teddy Bo design teams, with all that I have going on here at the moment, I felt I couldn't give them both the commitment needed. Anyway, the Teddy Bo team have refused to let me go, and I am now lurking in the background and just doing what I can when I can, which I was soooo happy to do as I have been on the team from the very beginning and it was such a hard decision to leave the mad bunch.
I didn't for one minute think I would find the time to do a card this week, but thanks to our car having a major breakdown on Friday evening and my hubby spending most of Saturday sorting things out and getting it transported to the garage, instead of going Christmas shopping  (mmm... I'm wondering if he planned it that way hehe!) I ended up with the day free, so the first thing I did was colour up one of the new Teddy Bo images and make up a card.

Image - Bo Bea Nativity - coloured in Photoshop
Papers, star and word art - The Reason for the Season digital scrap kit - Just So Scrappy
Grosgrain ribbon and brown stick on pearls - Meiflower

The car is at the garage, transported there by the RAC, as the rear suspension has completely gone and they deemed it unsafe to drive. The garage can't look at the car until at least Thursday and then they may have to order parts to repair it, so we have no idea how long it is going to be off the road and as it is a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) poor Meg is stuck in the house until it's repaired.
Luckily it's leased from Motability, so no repair costs, and they are trying to sort out the loan of a similar vehicle, until it's fixed.
Meg is in a panic as we are off to see Boyzone on Sunday and she is worried that if we don't have a car she won't get there, she is petrified of taxis due to a bad experience with the wheelchair in a taxi when she was younger, so we are keeping everything crossed that either the car will be repaired or we will have the use of another WAV before then.

Ho Ho Ho

Today I have a quick Christmas card to show you using a Sassy Cheryl illustration called Better Not Pout Santa. I used the alphabet set that came with the December Magic Digital Scrap Kit from Crazy 4 Monograms for the HO HO HO's
Santa's head has been decoupaged and decorated with glamour dust and a small pompom and is attached to the card with an Action Wobble spring which means that if you give him a little nudge or when you move the card around his head wobbles about.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree.....

...how blingy are your branches! Haha!

Here's a quick and easy card made using a freebie digi stamp of a simple stick Christmas tree, which has been covered with crystals and pearls.

This is one of three Christmas tree cards I made, which were all printed out together, only for me to discover once they were printed, that the yellow ink wasn't working, so they all came out slightly different colours to what they were supposed to be. On this one the colours should be more muted, but I liked the way they looked so used them anyway.

Stick Christmas tree freebie digistamp - Bird's cards
Papers - It's Snow Fun - Just So Scrappy
Bubblegum pink organza ribbon, stick on gems and pearls and diamante ribbon slider (used underneath a large stick on pearl to make the tree topper) - Meiflower

I thought this card would be perfect for the following challenge

Dear Santa......

...all I want for Christmas is about 4 more hours in every day, and an extra day in every week, LOL!
It's just over a week since I last blogged and I have no idea where the time has gone, is it just me or are the days flying by? there are only 44 days until Christmas and I haven't even thought about Christmas shopping yet, never mind anything else.
I have been busily working away in the background, and have about a dozen cards that need to be blogged, I just haven't had the time to sit down and blog them, so I am going to do that right now with this post and then schedule a couple more for through the week.

Today I have a Rocker Stepper card, using a fabulous Sassy Cheryl image and an amusing and very apt sentiment that I found somewhere on my travels around blog land.

Teddy Bo Friday!

I missed Teddy Bo Tuesday this week as I have been really busy, mainly having murder with the local hospital, over a pair of shoes for Meg.
12 months ago she had casts made of her feet to send off to a company in Germany to make her some new shoes (we can't buy shoes for her as her feet are tiny (she's 23 and her feet are smaller than my 8 year old grandsons), and really oddly shaped). Although she doesn't need the shoes for walking or standing, she suffers from really bad circulation and her feet are always freezing, last winter she had to wear fleecy bed socks over her socks whenever we went out, just for an extra layer of warmth, she also has severe osteoporosis in her feet and legs as she has never walked or put weight through them, so the shoes are protection against knocks which could result in broken bones - anyway, here we are 12 months and a number of phone calls to the hospital later - heading into another winter - and Meg still doesn't have any shoes to wear.
It turns out that the company in Germany are saying they have never received an order, and the hospital are saying they have sent the order twice (which seems odd as Meg has only had casts made once), so we now have an appointment for Monday for Meg to be re-assessed, which probably means she will be going through another Winter wearing bed socks!

Sorry about the rant, here's my card.

Super Duper Sparkly Christmas tree!

Today I have a sample card made for Meiflower once again using the gorgeous Crystal blossom sequins. This was one of those cards that seemed like a good idea at the start, but after an hour of painstakingly adding each sequin to a triangle of green card, it didn't seem like such a good idea after all LOL!
I have to admit though that I loved the way it turned out and it looks fabulous when the light catches it and the sequins all twinkle. Next time around I may just cover the triangle with tacky glue, throw a load of blossoms at it and then push them all into place hehe!

Wee Winter Fairy

I've been MIA for the last week as I have had such a lot going on, but I am back now and to make up for neglecting the blog I am going to be posting something every day for the next week.
There is also some fab news for any Teddy Bo fans out there as he will be back on Tuesday with some new images, so keep a look out for them.
I love this sweet little Winter Fairy digital stamp from Wee Stamps, which has been in my collection for quite a while now. A couple of weeks ago I found some time to colour her up and have finally got around to making up a card with her. I have a lot on at the moment, so have found myself mostly making quick cards - on this one the layout is quite simple, and I spent about 15 minutes adding the crystal blossom sequins around the edge of the circle. It really didn't take too long to put together, and I love the sparkle from the sequin frame as it catches the light.

Embossed Christmas Card

I really wanted to use the Crafts Too Christmas Greetings embossing folder as I have had it in my collection for a couple of years now and don't think I have ever used it, mind you I have a lot of dies and embossing folders like that LOL! every single die or folder I buy I have an idea for at the time, and then they go into a box with the rest and the next time I come across them I can't remember what my idea was!

This Christmas card was quick and easy to put together, but I love the way it turned out.

Princess Twinkle toes

Hi there, it's time for another challenge over at My Besties, this week it is my teams turn, but before I tell you this weeks theme I want to let you know about a few changes to the challenge.
You can now choose to do either - anything goes or follow the theme -  you still have to use a My Besties image for whichever part of the challenge you are following, and if you enter an anything goes card you won't be in the draw to win 5 My Besties Digi images (only cards that follow the theme than do that) but you will still be in the draw for one of the two runners up prizes of 3 My Besties Digi images.
Another new feature is that  from now on we will also be having a DT favourite, so each week one member of the DT gets to pick their favourite card from all the entries and that person will win 3 digi images, there is also a special blinkie for the DT favourite.

We would love to see your creations using either the

All at Sea!

That title explains exactly how I feel at the moment  LOL! as well as having a reference to today's cards.
I still don't know if I'm coming or going, although I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, and if that is not already enough cliche's for you then I'll give you one more - I think the end is in sight haha!

Just finished twenty one card samples for Crafty Devils (14 of which are Christmas cards) using some of the new Papermania goodies and Hobby house toppers, so lots more blogging to be done, and we are still only about halfway through the wedding invitations!

Today I have a couple of nautical themed cards for you (see the title does make sense) both suitable for young boys, and both made with kits from Paper Creator.

The first one is Noah's Flipper Pyramage kit which is part of a Mega bundle containing 10 Flipper kits for £7 the only other thing on the card is some gingham ribbon from Meiflower.

The second uses the Sail Away 6 x 6 card kit to which I've added a little wooden boat embellishment I found in my stash, and some ribbon and pearls from Meiflower.

Thanks for stopping by,
have a lovely weekend,

Wedding Day card

Still on the wedding theme but an actual Wedding Day card today instead of an invitation today. I had seen these heart bride and grooms around blog land and decided that I would have a go at making a card using them., although it mainly came about because I made a Civil Partnership card for a friend to give to her son and his partner on their wedding day, and the groom was a practice piece before making the larger and different coloured ones for the actual card.
The groom heart seemed a bit lonely lying around in my craft room so I decided to make him a mate and put them on a card, so that they can be together forever  awww! LOL!

The "bride" was made using a piece of pink scrap card I had lying around, but next time I think I would use a more fleshy colour.
