Summer heat...

...where did it go, it wasn't that long ago it was so hot I had every fan in the house pointing at me, and now it's a lot cooler and we have even had the heating on a couple of times. The weather just doesn't seem to know what to do with itself at the moment - you get up to glorious sunshine and by the time you've eaten your breakfast it's chucking it down, but by lunchtime the sun is cracking the flags again.

I bought the image I've used on today's card when it was really hot, it appealed to me because there were quite a few days when I would have given anything to be able to sit on a big chunk of ice to keep cool LOL! If I was looking for an image at the moment, the young lady would have to be warming her bottom in front of a roaring fire hehe!

Jungle and Nautical Pop Up Boxes

I am hoping for a nice peaceful day today, Meg is off to her Grandma's for lunch and hubby is taking oldest grandson to the Ormskirk MotoFest, so they can spend a few hours admiring cars they'll never be able to afford and taking photo's to remind them of that fact LOL! Eric is a bit of a petrol head and he's got Will the same way so they will enjoy themselves, checking out all the cars - and of course Will has to have the obligatory fairground ride too.
I have lots to do, so although it will be peaceful I shall be very busy, but at least I won't get loads of interruptions (famous last words LOL!)

Anyway here are a couple more of the pop up boxes available in The Paper Creator mega bundles, I have really enjoyed putting these together as they are soooooo easy with the kit, and you can make them "yours" just by adding a few embellishments.

For this one, I just die cut some letters and added the animal sounds to each of the flaps, the one you can't see has a parrot on it, so I added the word Squawk!

Pop up Box mega bundle - The Paper Creator
Little Lizzie Font - Die-versions

For the nautical version I just added some knotted string, and also wrapped a strip of card in string and dangled a ship's wheel charm from it

String - stash
Charm and pearls - Meiflower

Thanks for stopping by,
Hope you are enjoying a peaceful Sunday too,

It's time for a new challenge over at Paper Creator and this time around the theme is
You don't have to use Paper Creator products to play along but if you do you get two entries into the draw, and the prize is a £10 voucher to spend in store.

I decided to design myself a shaped card, why on earth I decided on such an awkward shape I don't know, I wanted something a little bit different, but when I was cutting out the card shape and papers I wished I'd just gone for something more straightforward LOL!

Next month my hubby and I will be celebrating 25 years of marriage, and as it happens Meg is going into respite the week of our anniversary, so we decided to treat ourselves to a little holiday, we can't book anything until the day Meg goes, as right up until the last minute we could have to cancel her respite stay if she becomes unwell.
As it's a special anniversary this year, we decided we would look for some Luxury self catering accommodation (I prefer self-catering as we are up a couple of times a night toileting and turning Meg, so when we go away I want to be able to get up when I am ready, not for some preordained breakfast time that is far too early).
Anyway while perusing the internet I came across a place called Brickhouse farm holiday cottages, in Poulton-le-fylde, only just over an hour away from home, but handy for travelling into the Lakes and Yorkshire, and while reading about the facilities at the accommodation I was thrilled to realise that all of the cottages had wide doorways, profiling beds and wet rooms, with the use of a wheeled shower chair (all the things we have at home for Meg), and a couple of the cottages also had ceiling track hoists (a necessity for us) and a hot tub with a hoist for getting in and out. It's so rare to find somewhere to take Meg on holiday that has all the equipment that we need that I decided to contact the cottages straight away to see if there was any availability for June next year in one of the cottages with a hot tub, but they were fully booked from May right through until the end of September. Erica, the very helpful young lady I spoke to, told me that they had a provisional booking for the first week in May and that she would chase it up for me, and if the people didn't want it, we could have it. She called me back a few minutes later to say it was ours if we wanted it, so I paid my deposit and our holiday is booked yaaaayyyyy!
I'm still looking for somewhere for hubby and I for our anniversary!

Don't forget to pop over to the Paper Creator challenge blog and check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of my teamies.

Have a fabulous weekend,
hugs,
Colette xx

Gentleman and Movie night Pop ups

I have had almost a whole week off from the computer and card making this last week, every day I would get up and say to myself, right let's get something done, and then think - do you know what, I really can't be bothered, so I have spent most of the time catching up on my reading which was fab, as I have hardly read a book this year, I have managed to get through eight while I was taking a break (yes, I am a very fast reader). I will probably end up regretting the break when I suddenly find myself with all kinds to do and not enough time to do it, but I feel like the break did me good because I am raring to go again now, and have quite a few cards planned for the next few weeks.

Today I am showcasing a couple more of the pop up boxes from Paper Creator, I love these, they are really easy to put together, look fabulous and at the moment the bundle is still on offer for only £5.

Cupcake anyone?

Recently, my friend Donna's daughter asked me to make a card for her mum's birthday. When I asked Leah what kind of thing she wanted on her mum's card she said something to do with cupcakes, as Donna is really into cake decorating at the moment. Donna makes cards herself, including lots of 3D cards so I thought it would be nice to do a 3D cupcake for her. I also decided to put the cupcake in a cupcake tote, and then after I had finished, decided it needed a box, so I made an acetate box for the whole thing to fit into.

I must also mention at this point that Donna loves a bit of bling!

Cupcake template - Cuppy Cupcake - My Time Made Easy
Butterfly die - C.C. designs
Polka dot papers from scrap box
Pearl string - stash
Stick on gems - Meiflower

View from above

I made some extra layers for the rose using dies from another Die-namics die, but can't remember which one.

The cupcake carrier template is actually for putting real cupcakes in, so wasn't quite big enough for my cake,  I ended up adapting and re-sizing the template to suit my needs
Cupcake Tote Template - Gems cottage
Cupcake paper - Confectionery papers - Pixels and Company
Ribbon - Meiflower

I also made a matching tag, so there was somewhere to write a birthday message, I attached it to ribbon and another die cut rose, so that it could be attached to the box once the message was written.

Tag Template - Cupcake Box Set - My Scrap Chick
Butterfly and flower - X-cut palm punches
cupcake paper as above
Ribbon and stick on gems - Meiflower

and finally, all packed up in it's acetate box.

It was lucky that I enjoy cutting out, as there was a lot of it, all done by hand as I don't have an electronic cutting machine yet, but I really enjoyed making something a bit different from my usual kind of thing.

I am entering the cupcake in the following challenges

Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge - #188 - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - #69 - Anything Goes
Wags 'n Whiskers - #135 - Birthdays
Delightful Challenges  - Anything Goes
TIME OUT Challenges - #11 - Celebrations with Optional Twist Butterflies
Crafty Creations - #269 Flower
Penny's Paper-Crafty -  #189 Anything goes

Paper Shelter Make it Digital Challenge

Hi there, our Paper Shelter summer break is now over and we are back this week with a new challenge which this time around is
If you play along using one of the fabulous Paper Shelter digi stamps or digi paper packs, then you could win a $30 gift certificate to use in store, if you win with any other image then you still get to choose 3 digi images from the store.

There are so many totally gorgeous images in the store, that it is always difficult to choose which one to use, but I fell in love with this cute little fairy in a tea cup and decided that this time around she would be the one for me. The papers on this card are also from the store and are called - In the 20's.

For a Trio of Travellers

My husband's cousin asked me if I would make a card for his granddaughter, her husband and their daughter, as they are off to work in Kuala Lumpor for the next two years, I wracked my brains trying to think of what to do and then remembered I had a colouring page that I had downloaded a while ago, which was of a stack of three suitcases, (one for each of them)  each one getting smaller as they got to the top of the stack. My plan was to colour up the image and use it on a card, but then I thought to myself - what if the suitcases were the card? Using the colouring page as a template, this is what I came up with.

I used First Edition 6 x 6 Boho Chic papers to decorate the cases and the little travel stamps were found on Google images.

My hubby dropped the card off and then I got a lovely phone call from his cousin's wife saying how much she loved the card and how perfect it was for the recipients. A job well done I think.

A Plethora of Pop up Boxes

Over in the Paper Creator store at the moment, you can get the latest mega bundle, which consists of 10 Pop up box cards, on offer for only £5, which is only 50p per box, each pop up box comes with a matching envelope and they are really simple to put together, you only need to print two sheets to make up each box design, so they're economical to make, they look dead impressive and the recipients will be blown away with your amazing card making skills LOL!

I was planning on putting a couple together to show you how they looked made up, but couldn't decide which ones I liked best, so I ended up making eight of the ten designs (probably would have made the whole ten if I had a bit more time).
I will be showcasing them two at a time over the next week or two.

Princess Pop Up Box with matching envelope - Paper Creator
Crown charm, ribbon and gems - Meiflower
(I added a bow to the charm and attached it at the end of a strip of acetate, also adding one of the butterflies from the kit, to the same strip, then blinged everything up with stick on gems and lots of glitter)

Space Pop up Box with matching envelope - Paper Creator
X-cut palm punches - Stars, small, medium and large
Glitter card in blue and white - Stash
Ribbon - Meiflower
(this kit also contains the Earth, but I left it off for my box, I added the planets to acetate strips so that they flutter around a little in the background)

If you keep flattening your box as you are working out the positioning of the images, you can see how far you can let them overhang the main box part, and still be able to fit into the envelope.

Thanks for stopping by,
hope you have a lovely weekend,
hugs,
Colette xx
