Dragonflies and a bee!

Here are the final two cards made using the free kit from the Apple Blossom Summer Special kit and magazine.

The dragonfly, bee and flower dies stamps and papers are all included in the free kit.

The die-cut bee is attached to acetate which is held to the card with a brad which is hidden underneath the flower garden and can be 'flown' across the card towards the hive.

Apple Blossom Summer Special

A few days ago the Apple Blossom Summer special arrived in the shops, the magazine comes with a fab free kit containing dies, stamps, an embossing folder, a stencil and papers. I was given a commission to make 5 cards using the elements of the kit.

Here are a few of the cards I came up with.

The papers, flower and bee die and the sentiment are all part of the free kit, the doily frame is from First Edition nesting doily dies and the ribbon and gems are from meiflower. I die-cut the bee twice from black card, and stuck them together before adding some split rings to make the dangling bee charm.
The shaker boxes were made using Sizzix nesting hexagon dies, the sentiment and images in the shaker boxes are stamps from the free kit as is the die for the little bees.

This card uses papers and a sentiment topper, as well as the dragonfly stamp from the free kit.

Simply cards and papercraft 165 and free papers

I have some cards to show you that were made for the latest issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft which is in the shops today.
I was given some digi stamps to play with from the Kate Hadfield Animal Antics collection and a colour scheme of deep pink, blue, yellow, green and purple.
After looking around for papers to suit the colour scheme I decided to design my own, and if you like the look of them you can download them for free from HERE, there are 18 papers all together, 12 patterned and 6 plain. You can also download the digi stamps for free too.

... and now changing the subject completely... a little tale about one of my senior moments...

I have owned a Kindle for quite a few years now, and it has become the normal way to read a book - read a page, click on the right hand side of the screen and the next page appears, simple! - but I have recently joined a sewing group in my local library and sitting there surrounded by books, occasionally something will catch my eye that looks interesting.
In the end I dug out my library card and borrowed a "proper" book, I sat down to read, but found it a struggle to hold the book as it was quite large and cumbersome, not small and light like my Kindle, but then I did the stupidest thing ever! after reading the first page, I automatically pressed the corner of the book to turn the page LOL!, when it didn't change I pressed again, totally perplexed as to why it wasn't changing, duh! once I  realised what I was doing, I had a little giggle to myself at my own stupidity and carried on reading, but every now and then without thinking I would press the edge of the page to turn over, what a doofus!.

I have read several "proper" books now and am once again used to the feel and weight of holding a book and the huge effort it takes (hehe)! to manually turn the pages.

Wedding invitations 3

Today I have the last two of the wedding invitation samples I did for Meiflower.

For this one I cut the filigree design on my Silhouette machine from white card, then added embossed Lilac Centura pearl panels top and bottom using the Cuttlebug D'vine swirls embossing folder. I added lilac stick on gems in various sizes to the flower centres, a pair of diamante wedding rings to the heart and a crystal diamante square to the bow.

The background on this one is a Nitwits paper from my scrap box, the tag was made with JoyCrafts labels and tags 6002/0144 using Centura pink pearl card for the background, the 25mm ribbon and double D diamante buckles are from Meiflower.

That's it for the wedding invitation samples for this year.
thanks for stopping by and taking a look,
