Vintage Wedding

Here's a wedding card I made as a sample for Meiflower, I wanted to use the new little satin rosebud trios, and thought the vintage image would go perfectly with the brown, gold and ivory roses.

This time around I've used the cute Owl ya need is Love card kit. As well as the backing papers, image, jumbled pyramage and sentiments the kit also contains a matching envelope and box.

Rose Wedding

Here's a quick wedding card using a scrap paper, a set of dies, an embossing folder and some gorgeous Meiflower embellishments.

Polka dot paper - Scrap box
Lifestyle Nesting Doily Die - circles
Couture Creations embossing folder - Intrinsic
Bride and Groom embellishment - Meiflower
Ribbon, Diamante heart ribbon slider and Rosebud trios - all Meiflower

This really was quickie as when I found the paper in my box of scraps, it was the perfect size and didn't need to be cut, the white card was also in my scrap box and was already embossed, so I only needed to die cut the circles and ink around the edges, I then cut one in half and fixed a piece to each side before layering up the rest of the die-cuts and the embellies.

My Besties Challenge, Blog Candy winner and a freebie

Did you enjoy the blog hop, I certainly did, so many beautiful creations from both team A and team B and a fabulous selection of blog candy prizes.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and a big welcome to all my new followers.
The randomly drawn winner of my Blog Candy is
Natalie Z. *Paselska*
Congratulations!
Please contact me via my email address in my profile and put Blog Candy winner as the subject and I will sort out getting your prize to you.

The theme for this weeks challenge is
and we would love to see your fabulous birthday creations using a My Bestie image.
The winner receives a massive $30 gift certificate to spend in store.

Image - Sweet Mary Lou - Coloured in Photoshop
Digital Papers - Flowers after the rain - Sweet shoppe Designs
Marianne Creatable - Anja's leaves 3
Sentiment by me (freebie below)
Flower - scalloped circle dies
Ribbons, diamanté ribbon slider, gems - Meiflower

The flower is made from tissue paper, I folded a piece of tissue paper up until there were nine layers then used the 3 smallest scalloped circle dies to cut it out (cuts through all nine layers at once, so quick and easy). I layered these up from largest to smallest and pushed a brad through the centre. I then scrunched every layer, one by one, around the centre brad (this takes a bit of time), and then opened them out again to make the flower. I was trying to make something similar to the flowers on her headband and waistband, and was quite pleased with the result as it does look similar.

I also changed the colour of the digi stamp to a medium brown then darkened around the eyes and the eyelashes (every girl needs lashings of mascara).

You can find lots of gorgeous Bestie images in store HERE
and don't forget to pop over to the challenge blog and check out the rest of my teamies fabulous creations.

You can snag the sentiment circles by clicking on each one to make it larger, then right click and "save as"

Little Fishy

I used the cute Little Fishy Topper sheet from Paper Creator to make today's card, I love fish, we have a couple of small tropical fish tanks at home, one in the living room and one in Meg's, room, I used to have a really big one, but it took up too much space, and with Meg being in a wheelchair there just wasn't enough room for her to manoeuvre, so we had to downsize. My tank is full of neons, I love the bright colours and to watch them darting around, I also have a couple of glass catfish in there, you can see right through them - totally weird!

Anyway today's little fishy is a cutie, I printed the sheet out twice so that I could add some decoupage layers, I also added googly eyes and some dewdrop bubbles. There is a blank square on the sheet and I added my sentiment to that.
The card front has been cut down to half it's height and shaped around the topper which is fixed into place on what would normally be the inside of the card. I cut around the waves and attached them along the top of the card front.

Burgundy Wedding Invitation

I have recently put together a few wedding card samples for Mei and keep forgetting to blog them, my daughter says my forgetfulness is due to the fact that I am sooooo old, but I keep telling her that one day she will be as old as me and I wonder how she'll feel then, her answer is - that by then I will be even older and even more doo-lally so she won't seem that bad!!! she's probably right too LOL!

Anyway, before I get any older and a few more brain cells die off, here is the first of the samples, a burgundy wedding invitation.

Digital Papers - Manhatten - Sassy Designs
Tonic Geared Punch - Victorian Border
Wording - computer generated
Ribbon, diamante and pearl heart, mixed size stick on pearls - Meiflower

House of Zandra

A couple of weeks ago at a local craft show I came across a company I had never heard of before, House of Zandra, their stand was full of gorgeous card samples, and 3D templates. As well as picking up the Fabulous Shoes CD (card HERE), I also bought  - an A4 sheet of pretty butterflies, there were nine on the sheet, 3 of each size - a matching background paper and - card template, (they had a sample card made up using all three and I thought it was beautiful), so today you get to see my version of the card, which is much the same as theirs except that I made mine with a white card base (theirs was cream), and I added a sentiment and some gems. The items I bought only seem to be available at the show as I have searched their online store from top to bottom and couldn't find any of them.

I wish I had picked up a few more sheets of the background paper, as I would have liked to have covered the back of the card too, and I still have 2 sets of butterflies left, so could have made a couple more cards.

Thanks for stopping by,

Today's my birthday and look what Google did!

This totally freaked me out last night when I first saw it, but now I love it LOL!

Just after midnight last night before going to bed I decided to have a quick browse through my emails, when I accessed the internet and the Google homepage came on I saw that Google had been spelled out in cakes.

Oooh I thought to myself, I must share a birthday with someone who is famous for making cakes, (the picture usually represents some famous person's birthday).

Imagine my surprise, when I moved my little hand pointer over the picture to see who it was and this popped up.
It says Happy Birthday Colette!!! I nearly fell off my chair !. It's obviously only on my homepage, everyone else in the house has Frank Hornby's birthday on theirs, but how cool is that!
Thank you Google, brilliant surprise.

Also I wanted to show you this gorgeous card I received from my bestest friend Karen, we met about 27 years ago when we worked together in Otis elevators and have been friends since. Karen used to make the most beautiful quilled cards, but unfortunately she now has a lot of health problems that prevent her from doing much crafting and I know how hard it is for her to make a card - what would take us a few hours, takes Karen days and even months depending upon how ill she is.

As you can see it is in my favourite colours, and has a fairy and glitter, everything I love in a card.

Thank you so much Karen, the card is beautiful and I really appreciate that you took the time to make it for me, you mad woman! LOL!

Also a big thank you to my wonderful hubby for my new computer,
he really does spoil me, but then again I deserve it - haha!

See you tomorrow,
hugs,
Colette xx

Just a quick reminder that we are halfway through our 'One for the Boys' challenge at Paper Creator, so you only have a week to get your entry in and be in with the chance of winning a £10 voucher to spend in store.
You don't have to use Paper Creator products, but if you do, you get a second entry into the draw.

Here's another one of the many male themed cards that you can find in store.

I made up the Soccer Star Gatefold card, using the decoupage layers on the ball and whistle and adding ribbon, a football shirt charm and polka dot buttons from Meiflower. I also made up the matching envelope.

Fabulous Shoes

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Sincerely Yours Craft show at Leigh and while there I picked up the Fabulous Shoes CD, the artist herself had a stand at the show (they also have an on-line store) and there were lots of samples on show using the CD as well as some gorgeous decoupage sheets, card templates and kits.
Now I mentioned in the previous post about my collection of CD's and how I very rarely use them, (even though I keep adding to them LOL!) so I am quite astonished that here I am showing you another card made from a CD, (two in one week, - you never know if I carry on like this I might get to use all of them hehe!).

I kept the card quite simple, as the shoe is very decorative and I wanted it to be the main focus.
I used the decoupage sheet from the CD, so although you can't really tell from the photo the shoe is layered up, it is also glittered to within an inch of it's life ( I do like a bit of sparkle).

Background papers - With a Cherry on Top - Just So Scrappy

Party Paws Anniversary

Have you seen the cute Panda - Bamboo - on the Party Paws CD from Crafters Companion, he is just too adorable, so I had to find a space for him, in my 'little' CD rom collection, (I use the term - little - very lightly here, as it's actually quite large, but I am trying to kid myself that I haven't spent an absolute fortune on CD's that very rarely get taken out of their cases - too little time, too many digi stamps LOL!).
Bamboo won me over with his sweet little face though, and I actually managed to get the disc in the disc drive and make a card.

Images and papers - Party Paws Paper Crafting CD
Sentiment Circle - rose image from CD, sentiment computer generated.
Pink Pearls, Pink Polka Dot ribbon and Satin rosebud trio - Meiflower

I made up the card shape myself, cut a circle aperture in the front and then added the sentiment to the inside of the card, when closed the sentiment almost fills the aperture.

Thanks for dropping in,
have a lovely day,

Paper Creator - For the Boys

It's time for the next challenge at Paper Creator and this time our theme is

The randomly selected winner of the challenge will win a £10 voucher to spend in store and you don't even have to use Paper Creator products, but if you do, you get yourself a second entry into the draw.

Here's my card for the challenge
