The Paper Shelter - Pearls challenge

Time for another challenge at The Paper Shelter today and this time around the theme is...

There are great prizes up for grabs! If you are our randomly selected winner and play with a TPS image then you have a chance of winning a $30 gift certificate, any other image and you will win three digis of your choice.

I had some flatback string pearls that I had bought at a closing down sale early last year and decided they would be perfect for the theme. I also used stick on pearls around the scalloped oval frame, fixing the larger ones within every other scallop and then the tiny ones in between.

Digital image - Coquette - The Paper Shelter (dress paper pieced)

Anita and her unicorn

I made this card last year but have only now got around to blogging it, I loved the image as soon as I saw it and coloured her up straight away, it then took me a while to get around to making the card, and finally almost a year after finishing it, I have managed to blog it, now, who says I procrastinate LOL!.

Bling!

Mei asked me to do her some samples using lots of bling to show on her stall at craft shows, I made her half a dozen samples, one of which I showed on a previous post, so here are a couple more.

Both of these cards are based around straight lines, and are cased from designs I have seen around blog land, although I don't remember where, so if you recognise them please let me know so that I can add links.

I must apologise for the awful photos, they all seem to have a blue tinge, even though the cards are white, it was a pretty miserable day when I photographed them but I had to get them done so that I could pass the cards on to Mei.

For this one I drew some lines in Photoshop, then printed them out, added the different sized stick on gems randomly along each group of lines, a different colour for each set, with randomly placed die-cut flowers in matching colours. If you want to have a go yourself then here is the template I made for the lines, just right click and save, re-size as needed, print it out and bling away.

For this second card I measured and marked the line spacing down the edges of a piece of  14 x 14cm card, drawing the lines very lightly in pencil, I printed the letters out on various polka dot digital papers and used a circle punch to cut them out. The letters were added to each line with foam pads and then I fixed stick on gems of the same colour centrally along each line.
Although I did my letters and wording digitally, they could just as easily be done with rubber stamps.

Big Flowers

I have had these big mulberry paper flowers in my stash for a number of years (a great number of years LOL!) and when I was doing some wedding invitation samples for Meiflower I decided I would finally use one. I loved the way the card turned out so recently made a couple more versions of it, using different colours for each one.

Thank you and Crochet

Today I thought I would share with you not only a card I made to say thank you to a friend, but also a couple of the baby blankets I have been crocheting.

For the card I used
Pearls and gems - Meiflower
Sentiment - ~Computer Generated

As I said in a previous post, after Meg passed away I just couldn't get my brain into card making mode, so instead I picked up my crochet hooks and began making baby blankets, these are the first ones I made.
I bought the pattern from Etsy and started with the pink one, after a couple of rows I no longer needed the pattern and could just work away at it while watching TV, I enjoyed it so much I made a second in blues and then a third in lemon and mint, although you can't tell from the photo the wool I used on the lemon and mint one has a sparkly thread through it, so the blanket actually has a bit of a twinkle (it's always best to get them into sparkle at an early age LOL!).
A big plus for this three colour pattern was that you carried the different colours up the sides of the blanket and then the border covered them, so no cutting and weaving in millions of ends, brilliant!

Lyubava crochet blanket pattern available to purchase HERE

My daughter has just taken the pink one for a friend, but the others are stored in a box waiting for babies to come along, I'm sure they will go to a good home one of these days,

Paper Creator challenge, mid month reminder

There's still plenty of time to join in with the Polka dots and Gingham challenge over at the Paper Creator Crafts blog, as we are only halfway through our monthly challenge.

I have another card to show you that will fit perfectly with our challenge theme and this time I've used both polka dots and gingham (genius LOL!). I have used one of the gorgeous Sassy Cheryl pre-coloured images called Polka Dot Bella, (another perfect fit for our theme - I'm definitely on a roll here!), matched up with papers from Just so Scrappy's Liberty digital scrap kit.
I used a tonic circle die to cut the image and Fiskars border punch Apron Lace for the borders.
The sentiment is computer generated and the gingham ribbon and gems came from Meiflower.

There are great prizes up for grabs! If you are our randomly selected winner and play with a TPS image then you have a chance of winning a $30 gift certificate, any other image and you will win three digis of your choice.

now I am not into huge bouquets of flowers all over my cards, I think they look fabulous on other peoples, but I just don't seem to be able to put them together, the brief for this challenge was lots of flowers, so I hope that I have managed to add enough.

Large flowers made from X-cut heart punches, large, medium and small
Flower centres and daisies X-cut flower punches medium and small

Wonderland and Superheroes

Last year I made some cards for publication in Papercraft Essentials magazine. I started to showcase some of the cards before Meg became ill and then with one thing and another I never got round to showing off the rest of them so I thought I would show a couple more today.

The magazine sent me some pre-coloured digital images from Kate Hadfield's Wonderlanders, All Mad Here and Super Duper collections to play with, there were no papers in the collections so I decided to design my own and they are available to download for free from HERE scroll down the page for the download links (you can check out some of the other papers from the kits in these posts here and here).

I used most of the Wonderlanders images for this card, making a 3D book design, it took a while to put together, but I loved the result.

With the SuperDuper kit I made a double-sided bedroom door sign,
side one for when the room is occupied

and the reverse for when the resident super hero has left.

The images are also available in Kate's store as digital stamps if you prefer to colour you own, and don't forget all the papers I used are available to download from the link above.

Paper Creator April Challenge

It's time for our new challenge over at Paper Creator and this month the theme is...

The winner will receive a £10 store credit to spend in the Paper Creator store.
Paper Creator products are not essential, but you will gain an extra entry into the random draw if using Paper Creator products.

I have used the Daffodil Bunny multi card kit and made up the shadow box card.
After cutting out all the parts I layered up the decoupage with foam pads and cut the centre from the front of the box with a tonic layering die, rubbing round the edges with an ink pad, I also added a inverted scalloped frame behind the aperture using an old Quickcutz die that I have had for years and never used, before fixing the front and back together.
The flowers and sentiment are also part of the kit, I added a couple of die-cut swirls behind the flowers, once again using an old die that I've had for a while and I finished it off with some pearly clusters in the flower centres, which I purchased locally.

Don't forget to pop over to the Paper Creator Crafts blog and check out the fabulous creations from the rest of my teamies.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look,
