The Bride

We have a new challenge starting over at The Paper Shelter today and the theme this time is

There are great prizes up for grabs! If you are our randomly selected winner and play with a TPS image then you have a chance of winning a $30 gift certificate, any other image and you will win three digis of your choice.

I decided to use the gorgeous bride image, and some pretty papers from Nitwits. Although it doesn't show up in the photograph I added some glamour dust to the patterns on her dress and veil, in real life it sparkles beautifully.

Little Boxes

Paper Creator has a fabulous new Mega Bundle on sale at the moment, it's called Pop-up sentiment boxes mega bundle and contains 10 different pop-up box kits. Unlike the regular pop-up boxes these don't fold flat, but each kit comes with a matching presentation box.

I decided to make two of the kits up to show you, the first I put together exactly as it says in the step-by-step photo instructions that come with the bundle, then I embellished it with punched flowers and leaves, ribbon, pearls and gems.

X-cut palm punches - Petal - large, medium and small
Leaf punch - Nellie Snellen Floral punches
Ribbon, gems and pearls - Meiflower

I decorated the lid of the presentation box with a punched flower, leaf and tag, and finished it off with a pearl and some gems.

I made a few changes to the second box.
I turned the platform over and stuck it in a little lower than intended, left off the sentiment and instead of using the little boxes included made up 3 small square boxes from pearl card, which I layered up and decorated to look like a wedding cake.

Ribbon, pearls and gems - Meiflower

I added a punched border to the lid and base of the presentation box and the sentiment from the kit, more punched flowers, and Meiflower ribbon and pearl hearts to the top.

There are 10 kits in the Mega Bundle including both male and female designs and a couple of Christmas boxes pop over to the Paper Creator store and check out the bundle while it is on offer.

Thanks for stopping by,

On Nitwits Pond

For the latest edition of Complete Cardmaking I got to play with papers and elements from On Nitwits pond collection.
I had to design nine cards, 8 for the mag and one for the website.
Here are a few of the cards I came up with.

Papers and elements for all creations - Free CD Complete Cardmaking issue 54
White linen card - Papermill direct
Spellbinders Grand labels 4
Spellbinders Grand circles
Seed beads

Not a card this time but a couple of baby vests.
Tonic Layering dies - circles
Sentiments - computer generated

Ribbed Kraft square card blank SF06U-99 - Craft Creations
A4 170gsm Matt inkjet photo paper - Photo Paper Direct
Sentiment - computer generated
Large stick on Pearl - Meiflower

I just wanted to take a minute to mention the paper I use for printing digital papers and images ( link above), I have been using this paper for a couple of years now, printed out at photo quality you get beautiful crisp images and bright colours, even at normal quality they are pretty good,  the paper costs £15.58 for 100 sheets, but you actually get 200 sheets as you also get 100 sheets free, it works out at approx. 8p per sheet, and any order over £9.99 is free P&P.
As the paper is coated it's not suitable for colouring digital stamps, but is perfect for your digital papers, pre-coloured images and at 170gsm for decoupage too.
For the card above I printed two sheets of paper, one containing two of the background papers each covering half of the A4 sheet, and a second sheet with smaller pieces of paper, the image, flower and sentiment.
I also need to say that I am not affiliated with the company that I buy from in any way, I just love the great price for this paper, and after being asked what paper I use and where I get it from, thought it might be nice to share the info here on my blog.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look,

Belated Happy New Year

Hi there, hope 2015 is treating you well so far. I have started the New Year off with a dose of the flu, which started on 23rd December, and each time I think I am finally getting over it, it hits me again with a bang! I was feeling quite sorry for myself, until speaking to my sister Beth, who has had it for almost a month now.
As I haven't been well I haven't done much at all in the way of card making, although I have managed to crochet myself a pair of wrist warmers and a neck warmer, but haven't been anywhere to wear them yet!

It's time for a new challenge over at Paper Creator today and this year we are changing things around a bit,  the monthly challenge will now start on the 1st of each month (except for this month), and the winner will be announced at the same time as the new challenge is published.

We are starting off this month with an easy peasy challenge
The randomly selected winner will receive a £10 certificate to spend in store.

For my card I used the Sassy Cheryl illustration Hello There Neighbour and also It's the simple things accessory set. I merged a couple of the images from the accessory set so that I could change the greeting on the image from Welcome to Happy Birthday.
I cut 2cm strips of red card and punched out a border, then arranged the strips to make a square frame for my card. I attached it to the card with foam pads before sticking a pearl in the centre of each flower. I die cut the image, attached it to a scalloped die-cut square and fixed it into place within the punched frame, adding a large red pearl to each corner. A couple of ready-made bows finished it off.

Tonic Layering die set - plain squares and scalloped squares
Stick on pearls and ready made bows - Meiflower
